So here we are in a new year...
So much has happened, and so much has changed over the last year, and continues to do so. I decided to finally let go of my therapy work for the time being. Changes, due to Covid regulations, and the loss of my little 'HideAway' therapy room meant treatments just didn't feel the same... gloves, mask and visor just weren't hitting the spot. One lockdown after another meant that work was sporadic. And so in January 2020 I got a part-time job as a pharmacy assistant! Quite a change in direction, but still allowing me to help people every day, albeit in a different way. So much to learn! What a year it's been! Consequently my writing, or rather the time to be with my illustrator, the lovely Jo Joof of Jo & Nic's Crinkly Cloth Books fame (sensory cloth books for babies) was put on hold while I got the hang of things in the pharmacy... However, it's a new year and Flossie the Foal, who is in need of some special shoes to help her to walk properly, is waiting to be brought to life! This will be the second book in the Chris the Farrier and Darren the Dragon series. I hope you'll join me on my journey... Julie x

As autumn approaches and nature begins to change, so does The HideAway...
No longer nestled amongst the leaves, just off Farrant Road in lovely Frome, my lovely HideAway is going to be a little more fluid in its approach to providing services, in addition to opening a whole new 'chapter', as my website will also provide a publishing site for my books - forgive the pun!!! Watch this space for emerging news... Julie x .So Autumn has arrived...
Time for the addition of a new product to the Katherine Daniels Cosmetics range used here at The HideAway! - Urban Shield Concentrate has had great reviews so far - super hydrating, improving the skin's defence mechanisms; ideal for the change in season. We'll soon be turning on the central heating and recovering from sun damage - this new, lightweight serum will be a great addition to the skin care range, particularly as it is soothing for those of us with sensitive skins. Treating yourself to a nourishing, hydrating facial is a great way to start the new season - check out my treatment menu for the choices available... www.thehideawayfrome.com with 25% off your first booking, for those of you new to The HideAway Julie xx (Image copyright Katherine Daniels Cosmetics) .It was at Beauty UK 2015 at the NEC Birmingham back in May that I first came across KDC (Katherine Daniels Cosmetics) the skin care range I have decided to use at The HideAway. Its image appealed and so I went over to find out more... The concept was developed by two British Therapists who have spent many years working with a variety of skincare brands, but wanted to provide a range that was specifically designed to help skin exposed to our British climate. KDC is based around our ocean origins drawing its active ingredients from the sea and plants. The range is only 2 years old, but has already had mentions in Vogue and many other big name magazines, not to mention now making its way into the professional journals and winning skincare awards. I love giving facials and am really impressed with the KDC range, so far achieving great results, particularly when combined with micro-current and ultrasound therapies. Over the summer, after taking redundancy from my hectic job as Beauty Therapy Co-ordinator and Lecturer, I was given the opportunity by my good friend Cassie at The Wig Sanctuary to set up a cosy treatment room hidden away in Frome, Somerset. It seemed fitting to call it The HideAway. Here it is on the verge of its transformation. My aim is to provide a range of Beauty Therapies in a caring, unhurried and secluded environment, by appointment only In this blog I hope to offer useful insights into life as I know it...
